What is Mental Evolution?
In today’s society, one in every five adults and one in every six youth aged 6-17 experience some form of mental illness in America. Across the nation, 1 in every 20 adults is living with a serious mental health condition such as schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, or long-term recurring major depression¹.
As someone who lives with Mental Health and has tried numerous mental health treatments, it was not until I found the gym that I could change how I think, feel, and live. The gym has become my safe haven and has allowed me to break out of the cycle that are negative thoughts.
The goal of Mental Evolution is to promote self-care and physical exercise as one of many outlets for living with mental health. Physical activity releases endorphins, which are powerful chemicals in the brain that energize the body’s spirits to promote a calm and relaxed feeling. Daily physical activity can also boost mental health by improving mood, sleep, self-esteem, confidence, and mental well-being.
Everyone has their own story, and everyone has their own struggles, but together, we can create a safe space for individuals to open up about their mental health and seek appropriate treatment. Mental Evolution is committed to building a community that empowers each other by spreading positivity and awareness to battle the social stigma that is mental health.
